Cars and the Environment group
Dedicated to reducing air and water pollution due to vehicles. The idea is that each individual should look at how pollution can be reduced by making better decisions regarding the choice, operation, and maintenance of his or her vehicle.

This group is founded on the necessity for a place to post and view ideas about how we can "Think Globally - Act Locally".

Q: How can we reduce the amount of air & water pollution from our cars?
A: Synthetic motor oil.

Not many people I run into are aware of synthetic oil. The markets are dominated by easy access to petroleum oil and the sway of dominant advertising. We were never told the fact that we can make a difference for the environment simply by switching to synthetic oil. How can this be? Because of the stability, low volatility, and high film strength of synthetic oils. I'm not just talking about amsoil, but any synthetic lubricants on the market. The others are good (by their claims..) I just know about Amsoil. Amsoil has higher lubricity for better economy and low engine wear, but the big thing is extended oil changes. Because synthetic oil doesn't boil off, doesn't react with combustion byproducts to form acids, doesn't break down, does hold particles in suspension, and does have high film strength-clinging & cushioning to the moving parts, your oil is good for 25,000 miles or a year. If you use regular petroleum oil, you will go through 40 quarts, and 8 filters for that mileage. It's obvious; as someone who thinks globally and acts locally, synthetic oil is the only way to go. See the "ad" at bottom of page for more info.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you will use synthetic oil, even if not Amsoil. Please email or go to forum if you have any questions. Check out this homepage & the amsoil web ring for independent corroboration of what I'm saying. I'm an environmentalist, and this is what I'm doing for the environment!
Take it from a card carrying member of Greenpeace, Clean Water Coalition, USPIRG, and MPIRG!
Sincerely,
"Our mechanized society cannot function without lubricants. The dilemma is oil is both necessary for our life-style and potentially destructive to nature. Quite simply, we must select innovative, efficient products that will help solve our pollution problems." --courtesy of the Amsoil environmental page.
Because of the 25,000 mile extended oil change, Amsoil helps the environment. If you reduce by a factor of 5+, the benefits are obvious. Take action, put in Amsoil at the next oil change.

EnergyCel fuel device
I'd like to share some information about an impressive fuel saving and performance enhancing device. (Yes, there's always room for skepticism.) Anyway, yesterday I attended a meeting where they were talking about this device called EnergyCel that's a powerful magnet that clamps around the fuel line of anything from diesel trucks, to cars, to home heating.
The fuel line has to be rubber where it's clamped to now interfere with the polarization of the fuel. The EnergyCel re-aligns the hydrocarbons in the fuel so they burn more efficiently. The result is that there is a "rifling effect" of the molecules as they burn.
Without the polarization, hydrocarbon molecules tend to clump together, don't burn efficiently, and end up in the catalytic converter, or out the exhaust as pollutants
The result is reduction of pollution and better fuel economy.
Another benefit is that the engine starts cleaning out the carbon buildup. (I forgot to ask how that works...)
The presenter said that EnergyCel is certified by the State of California as an anti-pollution device, Jamaica is mandating all their cars to have one installed, as well as South Africa, and the City of New York has purchased over 250,000 of them for their vehicles. (Are there really that many in NY?)
